Finding The Right Window Cleaning Service

Washing your own windows can be an unwelcome chore. It can also be dangerous if you have windows that are tall or higher than the ground floor. Using long ladders to access them can be pose a risk to your health. Washing windows is also a time-consuming and tedious task. Without the proper equipment, it can take much longer and not be as high quality as if you went with a window cleaning service. Window cleaning services specialize in safely and effectively cleaning windows.

They will have the necessary tools and supplies to complete a quality job. Before hiring one, there are several things to consider. Many home cleaning companies also offer window washing as an added service. There are also those that specialize strictly in window washing. Either one is acceptable as long as they have the necessary experience.

An experienced window washer will ask a variety of questions or take a visual inspection before quoting on the project. Determining cost factors include the type of windows, quantity, size and amount of dirt. Some types of windows will require specialized cleaning and especially dirty windows may require power washing, which can increase the expense. YBH Cleaning Services is a fully insured and bonded cleaning company.

There is potential for damage if windows are not cleaned properly, so ensure you are covered. Make sure you get an estimate in writing. This should include a detailed description of the work to be done, the cost for the project and time frame for completion. Also be sure they have proper equipment to protect surrounding areas for damage and that they are responsible for thoroughly cleaning up after the job is complete.

Ask friends or family for recommendations. Obtain several quotes before deciding on a company. Make sure the company will provide a free estimate. This is standard but it is wise to verify before incurring any unnecessary costs.

Ask for references and follow up on them to ensure they have happy customers. A service that has been in business for a long time is a better option than a newly formed one because they will have a proven track record.

Window washing can be a time consuming, difficult chore. Many people opt to hire a window cleaning service as opposed to doing it themselves. With a good company, you will get a job that shows quality work completed in a timely manner. They will be able to accomplish the job safely and assure you that any damages will be taken care of.

Make your Windows Sparkle with These Cleaning Tips

How often should we clean our windows? These should be cleaned thoroughly every few months or at least, twice a year. Mirrors and windows can easily accumulate dust even when you clean them often. You will need the right tools and materials to be able to do the job in an easy and efficient manner. Even a crumpled newspaper can do the job. Vinegars and micro fiber cloths can also be very helpful in making your windows sparkle. The article below tells you more about the tools and tips in making your windows clean.

If you do not have the time (or energy) to do the cleaning yourself, call the experts in. Contact YBH Cleaning Services if you are in need of the services of professional cleaners.

Glass windows and mirrors easily collect dirt, even if you clean them too often. Moreover, in spite of all the meticulous cleaning and elbow grease, the glass does not seem sparkling clean because of the streaks and lint. Thus, apart from the elbow grease, you also need to use the right tools. For instance, it is best to clean mirrors, glass windows, shower stalls, and glass furniture with a microfiber cloth, chamois, or a squeegee rather than a paper towel because the latter is likely to leave behind streaks.

Interestingly, even a crumpled-up newspaper sheet can work as a great alternative to paper towel. Rest assured, the print ink shall not stain the glass as glass does not absorb ink. Avoid rubbing newspaper on the window frames, though.

For cleaning extremely dirty glass, begin by cleaning it with a microfiber cloth soaked in a cleaning solution, whether it is homemade or store-bought. Finally, polish the glass by rubbing it with a crumpled-up newspaper sheet.

When using a commercial glass gleaner, prefer to use a product that does not contain ammonia. Mirrors and glass can be cleaned using club soda, too. Coffee filters are also considered effective in this regard.

If there is a waxy film on the glass, you can mix two cups of water, a quarter cup of vinegar, and a half cup of liquid dish soap. Another recipe for the same involves mixing two tablespoons each of white vinegar and rubbing alcohol, one and a half teaspoons of cornstarch in a cup of warm water. Store it in a spray bottle and shake it before every use.

In case the glass is cloudy, you can use a mixture of a half cup of rubbing alcohol, two tablespoons of ammonia, and a quarter teaspoon of liquid dish detergent. Another easy way to clean cloudy mirrors is to use a little shaving cream (not gel).

For cleaning a glass table, you may use a little lemon juice and then rub it with a newspaper. Do not rub too hard, or else it may cause scratches. Moreover, tiny scratches on glass can be polish using a little white toothpaste.

If you are busy but still itching to clean your windows and mirrors, here are some quick ways on making them sparkle and shine in no time:

Biggest Challenges

1. Dirty sills and frames

2. Dusty, grimy screens

3. Spotty, smeared glass

Fastest Fixes

Give dirt the brush-off. We know — going at the glass with the cleaner is the most satisfying part. But before you squeeze that trigger, pull back the blinds or curtains, open the window, and inspect its sill, frame, and tracks for obvious crud and cobwebs. Sweep out debris using the small-handled brush that comes with your dustpan. (Skip this step, and you risk a mess later, since the loose dirt can stick to your wiping towel and smear the glass.) Also handy: a cloth-wrapped screwdriver for flicking out dead bugs or hard-to-reach gunk.

1. De-grime the screens. If you leave yours in year-round, give them a once-over now — otherwise, all that dried-on dirt may blow into your house the first time you open the windows for ventilation. The good news: You don’t need to take down the screens and hose them off. Just run your vacuum with its dusting-brush attachment over the side that faces in. (Side to side, top to bottom is the speediest method.)

2. Make the glass gleam. For windows that tilt in, washing both sides is a cinch. Spray your cleaner on the inside of the glass until it’s heavily misted but not drippy. Then, with a clean lint-free cloth, wipe horizontally until dry. Tilt the window the other way; repeat on the outer panes, but this time wipe vertically (cleaning in opposite directions makes streaks obvious and easier to zap). For double-hung windows that don’t fold in, slide the bottom pane up about eight inches — so you can reach out and up. Clean what you can; then slide down the top panel to get it from above. Windows crank out or don’t open at all? Clean the insides, then rinse the outsides with a hose.

If you do not have the materials listed above but you have a micro-fiber cloth, worry not! Water and micro-fiber cloth can do wonders in cleaning your windows. Here’s how:

How To Do It

  1. Use a dry microfiber cloth to clean the mirror using horizontal strokes across the top, then in vertical strokes.
  2. If spots are still stubborn, try dampening a corner of the cloth before attempting to clean the mirrors again.
